EXPLORE WHILE YOUR AT NADI BAY RESORT HOTEL- If you wish to visit Nadi Town, 4kms away, a local bus will cost less than FJ$1 only a 5 minute walk, Taxi $5, or visit Lautoka the Sugar Capital of Fiji it is a 45 min journey by bus and approx FJ$2 also just a 5 min walk to the bus stop. Check with reception which direction to go!!
WAILOALOA BEACH – Jump on our free bus to our local ”beach”. The beach is unfortunately not on par with the beaches you will experience in the Yasawas or Mamanucas or any of the other outer islands, it is a black sandy beach – nice for a stroll along. Possibly save the beach stuff for your island hopping and check out the towns.
LOCAL INFO
NADI - has modern shops, including handicrafts and local manufactured garments (get yourself a dress or shirt made). There is a Handicraft Market situated just off the main street near to the post office, also a Municipal Market with, Fruit, vegetable, spices, fresh fish and Yaqona stalls open daily all day, on Sunday morning only… take small change with you and a big smile you will be greeted everywhere you turn with the perpetual cry of “Bula”!!! Potter around and enjoy this immersion in Fijian daily life, you may have to pay more than “local Price” but is an experience worth jumping on the bus for! SRI SIVA SUBRAMANIYA SWAMI TEMPLE- located at the end of main street in Nadi Town; Visitors are welcome with certain restrictions (respectful dress etc) it is a Hindu temple servicing the Fiji/Indo population of Nadi Town.
LAUTOKA- has the botanical gardens, the rugby grounds where the International tests (amongst other things) are played, also Lautoka has the municipal market which also has the same vibrant atmosphere of the Nadi market, colourful fruit, vegetable, fish and spice market to explore and experience. Either choose a direct bus to Lautoka that goes along the Kings Road or travel on the bus through Vuda (pronounced Vunda) to Lautoka and see a small seaside village with the traditional bure meeting house.
DENERAU ISLAND- has a newly developed shopping complex for those that want a taste of home, this is also where you board your boat transfers to the Yasawas and Mamanucas, Buses pick up from Nadi Bay Resort for all boat transfers and tour operators. |
